About

Everything here
was actually used.

Note-app roundups mostly praise the same features in the same order, which is what happens when a review is written from a pricing page and a ten-minute trial.

Why This Exists

I have migrated my notes between apps more times than is reasonable, and the things that eventually made me leave were never in any review. Search that degrades past a few thousand notes. Sync that quietly loses a paragraph. Export that technically works but produces unusable files.

None of that shows up in a ten-minute trial. It shows up in week three, which is why nothing gets written about here until week three.

How I Test

My real notes go in, all of them, and stay there long enough for the app to annoy me. I use it for actual work rather than a demo, because the failure modes only appear under real weight.

When I stop using something, I say so and I say why. An app I abandoned is more informative than one I liked, and most reviews never tell you about those.

What You Will Not Find Here

  • Reviews written from the features page
  • Aggregate scores out of ten
  • Rankings that move when someone starts an affiliate programme
  • The same eight apps in the same order as everyone else

Who Writes It

Kevin Gabeci. I write software and keep an unreasonable number of notes, which is how this became a hobby with a domain attached.
